Actually we aren't having that issue at all. I save documents directly to Sharepoint Online via a mapped drive. I'll get Matthew to add a bit more detail in case it's more confusing than that at a level beyond a general user's awareness.

That said, though - with a new computer and a recent connection upgrade, I'm finally zipping to Sharepoint Online just as though it were an in-house network. It's great!

I have been trying to get Sharepoint Online and Exchange Online to work for us for three days. One HUGE missing element is the ability to email-enable libraries and lists which is NOT included in Sharepoint Online. The absolute only way to get a file into Sharepoint is to upload it by hand directly to the library or list. And the is ABSOLUTELY NO COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE TWO PROGRAMS WHATSOEVER. So, for instance if you are emailed a document you want to put on Sharepoint, you have to manually copy that file to a location on your local computer, login in to Sharepoint and navigate to the folder you want to post the document to and then upload the document by hand. Unbelievable and hugely unproductive. The name of this game is supposed to be productivity so why something as basic as posting via email (which is in Sharepoint Server) or sharing folders between Exchange and Sharepoint (which is also in the server versions) was left out is really a mystery and a terrible limitation - enough that we won't be moving our company to it, we will look for something else.

Having this in combination with SkyDrive is a really powerful toolset because you can access everything where ever you are, including your Iphone or Droid.

If at some point you realise that SharePoint does not meet all the needs of your business, then using SharePoint web partsin conjunction with SharePoint will help to enhance the overall experience of the users. Organisational and departmental charts provide an accurate representation of your workforce, and helps make communication within the business easier. These web parts will ensure all your requirements are able to be met.
